Food Matching Note:
This full-bodied wine is delicious enjoyed with robust dishes of poultry, red meat, venison, game and mature, hard cheeses.
Tasting Note:
Deep, dense ruby with a concentrated, complex aroma reminiscent of violets, blackberry and sour cherry combined with a hint of freshly roasted coffee and dark chocolate.
Vinification Note:
Fermentation lasting 15 days, during which time the skins are carefully kept in suspension. The skins are subsequently left to macerate in the young wine. The young wine is filled into small French oak casks, half of which are new, where it undergoes malo-lactic fermentation and is barrique-aged for 16 months, then lightly filtered before bottling.
Detailed Vinification Note:
Grape variety: 100 % Lagrein
Vineyard location:
The vines are planted in the classic Lagrein growing area at Gries, a suburb of Bolzano. The deep alluvial soils consist of sand and debris, mainly granite and porphyry and the hot microclimate of the Bolzano valley basin is perfect for Lagrein. Vines are trained on pergolas.
Harvest: Mid-October
