The Casas Santos Lima is part of the Quinta da Boavista, situated in the Alenquere, approximately 40 kilometers north of Lisbon in a region with a rich tradition of vine cultivation and winemaking. Vines cover more than half of the 280 hectares of agricultural land that make up the estate, about 90 hectares of which have been planted since 1990. The actual cellar was built in the 1940’s but has undergone many up-grades since that time, in particular the introduction of stainless steel vats, pneumatic presses and temperature control systems. Under the supervision of José de Silva the estate has gone from strength to strength producing wines of quality and complexity at a remarkable price.
