The Ébano estate comprises 48 hectares of vineyards in Quintana del Pidio and Gumiel del Mercado in the Ribera del Duero D.O. The appellation is known for its harsh continental climate and the wines show a powerful character born out of the marriage of uncompromising winemaking and exceptional terroir. Vines are mature, with an average age of between 14 and 25 years. Around half are traditionally bush-trained and the other half are trellised on wires. Viticulture on the estate is run along modern scientific lines, with extensive soil sampling and daily analysis of the canopy during the growing season. 2010 saw the first vintage in the brand new state-of-the-art winery.
